Overview of Direct Attention Thinking Tools Training

Our modern lives are often fast paced and full of action. We often confuse action with accomplishment and frequently jump to action without enough thought. The Direct Attention Thinking Tools (DATT™ and also known as the Power Of Perception™ tools) provide simple strategies for shifting perception and focusing your thinking in a more comprehensive and thorough way.

The tool approach to thinking consists of having the tools, learning how to use them, practising them, and finally using them effectively - at will. DATT consists of 10 tools that cover important aspects of thinking. This is the thinking involved in everyday affairs, not in technical analysis.

The DATT tools are attention-directing tools. Perception is a very important part of thinking as most mistakes and inadequacies take place in perception - if we fail to look for something then we only see part of the situation and we leave things out. We then fail to take consequneces or other people's thinking into account or fail to generate or see alternative ways of doing things.

The DATT tools are an aid to thinking. They make thinking more deliberate, more structured, more organised and more effective. The DATT tools are designed to be simple and usable which means they can be easily used effectively and to powerful effect.

The DATT tools will build more confidence in your own thinking. Instead of wondering "What do I do know?" there are certain things that can be done - you can use the tools in group work such as meetings and project groups, in conversation and in your own thinking.
